TEXTILE, GARMENT EXPORTS ESTIMATED TO HIT $46 BILLION IN 2025
Việt Nam’s textile and garment industry is projected to reach US$46 billion in export revenue in 2025, up 5.6 per cent from 2024, according to the Việt Nam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS). Announced at a press briefing on November 25, the forecast reflects the sector’s continued recovery after years of global disruption. The industry is expected to post a trade surplus of $21 billion, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to Việt Nam’s trade balance. VITAS chairman Vũ Đức Giang highlighted rising localisation, now at 52 per cent, and the association’s extensive trade promotion efforts, including participation in major international exhibitions. Despite challenges from COVID-19, geopolitical tensions and stricter global standards, Việt Nam has maintained its position among the world’s top three textile exporters. VITAS has expanded significantly, adding 293 members since 2020 and strengthening links between domestic and foreign-invested firms. Partnerships with international organisations such as ILO, IFC, GIZ and global industry associations have supported nearly 300 training programmes on innovation and sustainability. A strong policymaking role has helped streamline administrative procedures and improve tax, credit and labour regulations. Entering its 2025–2030 term, VITAS targets $64.5 billion in exports by 2030, higher localisation, green transformation, digitalisation and the development of a recognised Vietnamese fashion brand. — VNS (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
