INDONESIA PROJECTS STRONGER ECONOMIC GROWTH IN 2026

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto expressed confidence that economic growth in 2026 will outpace 2025, noting that most risks have already been absorbed into interest rates, commodity prices, and the rupiah exchange rate. He highlighted strong household consumption, with the Mandiri Spending Index reaching 312, and robust investment growth of 13.7 percent year-on-year, totaling IDR 1,434 trillion from January to September 2025. Monetary easing by Bank Indonesia, which cut rates to 4.75 percent, alongside stable fiscal policies, has supported lending and kept inflation under control, creating what he described as “upside risk” for next year’s growth, with a baseline projection of 5.4 percent. Indonesia's Finance Minister, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, reinforced this optimism, projecting that Indonesia’s economy could reach 6 percent growth in 2026. He emphasized that existing programs will be optimized and the investment climate improved to encourage greater private sector participation, drawing parallels to the growth-friendly environment of the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono era. With fourth-quarter 2025 growth estimated at 5–5.7 percent, both ministers conveyed confidence that Indonesia is well-positioned to achieve stronger and more competitive economic performance in the coming year.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2007957/indonesia-projects-stronger-economic-growth-in-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
