INDONESIA'S MANUFACTURING PMI RISES TO 53.3 IN NOVEMBER 2025

Indonesia’s manufacturing sector recorded its fourth consecutive month of expansion in November 2025, with the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rising to 53.3, up from 51.2 in October. This marks a strong rebound from the contraction earlier in the year, when the PMI fell to 46.7 in April and remained below 50 until July. The latest S&P Global survey attributed the improvement to a sharp rise in new domestic orders—the fastest since August 2023—which boosted output, employment, and purchasing activity. Export demand, however, continued to decline, highlighting the domestic market as the main growth driver. Manufacturers also reported intensifying price pressures, with input cost inflation hitting a nine‑month high due to rising raw material prices and exchange rate fluctuations. These costs were partly passed on to clients, pushing output prices to their highest level in 19 months. Despite weaker business confidence compared to October, firms remain optimistic about continued production growth, supported by stronger consumer purchasing power. Supply chain challenges, including shipping delays and longer lead times, added pressure, but companies increased inventories in anticipation of sustained demand. Overall, November’s expansion was the fastest since February, underscoring a solid recovery in Indonesia’s manufacturing activity.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20251201/257/1933010/pmi-manufaktur-ri-naik-ke-level-533-november-2025-ekspansi-4-bulan-beruntun (ICE GIACARTA)
