The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has asked states and Union Territories to immediately remove fruit-based drinks, ready-to-serve beverages, electrolyte drinks and energy drinks being sold under brand names containing the term “ORS” (Oral Rehydration Solution) from retail shelves and e-commerce platforms. FSSAI had directed all food business operators to immediately stop using the word 'ORS' in their labelling and advertisements, calling such practices misleading to consumers.
