FSSAI ASKS STATES TO REMOVE FRUIT-BASED BEVERAGES, OTHER drinks being sold under ORS brand from markets
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has asked states and Union Territories to immediately remove fruit-based drinks, ready-to-serve beverages, electrolyte drinks and energy drinks being sold under brand names containing the term “ORS” (Oral Rehydration Solution) from retail shelves and e-commerce platforms. FSSAI had directed all food business operators to immediately stop using the word 'ORS' in their labelling and advertisements, calling such practices misleading to consumers. This also violates the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. (ICE NEW DELHI)
