INDONESIAN PALM OIL EXPORT UP OVER 25% TO $20.2 BILLION
Indonesia’s palm oil exports surged by 25.73 percent year-on-year as of October 2025, reaching US$20.2 billion (19.49 million tons) compared to US$16.07 billion in the same period of 2024. Palm oil accounted for 9.05 percent of Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports, helping the country maintain a 66-month trade surplus streak since May 2020. The growth was driven by strong domestic demand in India, particularly during the festival season, and supported by favorable global prices, which rose to US$1,045.04 per metric ton in October. On the policy front, Indonesia welcomed the European Parliament’s decision to postpone the implementation of the EU’s anti-deforestation regulation (EUDR), giving exporters until late 2026–2027 to comply. Senior Minister Airlangga Hartarto hailed the delay as a “victory” for Indonesia, easing pressure on smallholders. At the same time, Jakarta is negotiating with the United States to secure zero tariffs on palm oil exports, with officials confident that the commodity will be exempted since it cannot be produced domestically in the US. Together, these developments reinforce palm oil’s role as a cornerstone of Indonesia’s trade relations and economic resilience.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesian-palm-oil-export-up-over-25-to-202-billion (ICE GIACARTA)
