BELOW-TARGET GROWTH EXPECTED UP TO 2027

THE Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has slashed its growth forecasts for the Philippines, which is now expected to extend a run of below-target results to 2027. The country will likely post growth of just 4.7 percent this year, the OECD said in its latest Economic Outlook, down from the 5.6 percent projected in June and markedly lower than the 2024 result of 5.7 percent. Growth is expected to slow further to 5.1 in 2026 instead of 6.0 percent before rebounding to 5.8 percent the following year. The OECD’s forecasts fall below the government’s 5.5- to 6.5-percent target for 2025 and the 6.0-7.0 percent for 2026 to 2028. Economic managers are expected to review these goals next week. Philippine economic growth has been below target since 2023: it was 5.5 percent that year, missing the 6.0- to 7.0-percent goal, and 2024’s 5.7 percent was short of the 6.0- to 6.5-percent target. https://www.manilatimes.net/2025/12/04/business/top-business/below-target-growth-expected-up-to-2027/2236405 (ICE SINGAPORE)
