Tokayev rebukes ministries for delays in developing cargo air hubsPresident Kassym-Jomart Tokayev criticized several ministries for prolonged delays in addressing long-standing issues related to the development of Kazakhstan’s cargo air hub sector, the presidential press service said.According to the statement, Tokayev chaired a meeting on Wednesday on the development of regional cargo air hubs, directing the government to begin work immediately and resolve outstanding issues without further delay.“Particular attention must be paid to revising the current tariff policy for airport services. Over the past ten years, tariffs have been raised only once — this year. As practice shows, suppressing tariffs leads to heavy infrastructure wear. The review must ensure an improvement in the current situation,” he said.At the same time, Tokayev stressed the need for “a balanced approach without sharp increases in prices.”He said the principle of “tariffs in exchange for investment” should form the basis of sectoral development in the coming years.“Creating a favorable business climate is a strategic task. We must listen carefully to investors,” the president said.He also noted that excessive regulation of non-aviation services at airports “raises concerns.”“Complex bureaucratic procedures for selecting companies through tenders, limits on contract durations — all this must be stopped,” Tokayev said.
