Jordan has made significant strides in global knowledge rankings, advancing in the Global Knowledge Index for the third consecutive year.In 2025, the Kingdom ranked 73rd out of 195 countries, rising from 88th out of 141 in 2024 and 97th out of 133 in 2023, reflecting "steady" progress in international indicators assessing innovation, education, and the effective application of knowledge in economic development. The advancement comes within the framework of the Executive Programme of the Economic Modernisation Vision 2023–2025, which includes targeted action plans aimed at boosting the country’s competitiveness across various global benchmarks. As part of these efforts, the government implemented an executive action plan to enhance Jordan’s GKI ranking. Approved by the Economic Modernisation and Development Committee and prepared by the Ministry of Education, the plan coordinates national initiatives and monitors progress across multiple sectors.Economists have welcomed the upward trend, noting its significance for Jordan’s long-term economic competitiveness.Yousef Suboh, an economic analyst, said, “Improving knowledge indicators not only strengthens Jordan’s position in international rankings but also enhances the economy’s resilience by fostering innovation-led growth, higher productivity, and deeper integration into the global knowledge economy.”He added that consistent improvements in such indices can attract foreign investment and support entrepreneurship, particularly in technology-driven sectors. From an educational standpoint, the rise highlights concerted efforts to modernise curricula, expand access to high-quality learning, and align educational outcomes with labour market needs, according to experts.Kholoud Efishat, a senior education specialist, noted, “The Ministry of Education’s focus on analysing performance, setting priorities, and implementing action plans demonstrates a systematic approach to knowledge development.
