QUANTITY OF GOODS AT PORT OF BEIRUT INCREASED BY 16% YEAR-ON-YEAR IN 9M-2025
According to the latest statistics released by the Port of Beirut (PoB), the quantity of goods increased by 16.2% year-on-year, reaching 4,771.6 thousand tons in the first nine months (9M) of 2025, up from 4,105.1 thousand tons in 9M-2024. Concurrently, the number of containers saw a yearly increase of 24.0%, totaling 450,830 containers in 9M-2025. On the other hand, the number of ships decreased over the period, reaching 1,050 ships in 9M-2025, showing a year-on-year contraction of 8.0%. Transshipments at PoB recorded 147,905 containers in 9M-2025, showing a year-on-year drop of 7.3% down from 159,628 containers in 9M-2024. Looking at the recovery rate in the quantity of goods imported through PoB during 9M-2025 against the same period of 2019, a rate of 92.0% is noted. This recovery rate is 12.9 percentage points higher than the one noted in 9M-2024 and stands as the highest recorded recovery rate since the start of the crisis, as per data from PoB. Looking at the Port of Beirut’s performance in September 2025, the quantity of goods reported an increase of 25.5% year-on-year against the same month of the year prior. The number of containers noted a year-on-year expansion of 33.7% year-on-year while transshipments through PoB noted a year-on-year jump of 21.5% between September 2024 and September 2025. In parallel, the number of ships recorded at PoB during September 2025 recorded a year-on-year increase of 4.4% against the same month of the previous year, according to data from PoB. (ICE BEIRUT)
