ITALY AND MALAYSIA SET TO USHER IN A NEW ERA OF BILATERAL RELATIONS
KUALA LUMPUR, 1 October 2025 — Italy and Malaysia are entering a new phase of strengthened bilateral relations, driven by renewed commitment and strategic engagement between both countries, said Italian Ambassador to Malaysia Raffaele Langella. He noted that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's visit to Rome in July — the first by a Malaysian leader in 36 years — has accelerated cooperation and opened the door for more systematic political dialogue.The ambassador highlighted Italy's intention to deepen its presence in Malaysia, particularly through business partnerships, and to build stronger networks between companies from both countries via the embassies in Rome and Kuala Lumpur. Bilateral trade reached RM14.61 billion (US$3.18 billion) in 2024, with a further 3.3% growth recorded from January to May 2025.
