BUSINESS SENTIMENT REACHES 1-YEAR HIGH IN NOVEMBER ON SEMICONDUCTOR BOOM: BOK SU
Business sentiment in South Korea rose in November to its highest level in over a year, driven by a strong boom in the semiconductor industry and improving consumer demand, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK). The composite business-sentiment index (CBSI) across all industries climbed by 1.5 points from October to 92.1 — the highest mark since October 2024. The manufacturing-sector sub-index rose slightly to 92.7, while non-manufacturing rose more substantially to 91.8. The rebound reflects stronger performance in industries tied to semiconductors (electronics, metal processing, petrochemicals) and a recovery in retail, wholesale and services thanks to improving consumer sentiment. Despite the uptick, the CBSI remains below its long-term average of 100, meaning that overall corporate outlook is still somewhat cautious. (ICE SEOUL)
