KOREA'S EXPORT FIGURES HIT RECORD HIGH FOR SIX CONSECUTIVE MONTHS

South Korea’s exports in November 2025 rose 8.4% compared with the same month last year, reaching US$ 61.04 billion — the highest November export figure ever. This marked six consecutive months of record-breaking monthly exports. From January through November, cumulative exports hit US$ 640.2 billion, already surpassing the previous record for that period. If December exports reach about US$ 59.8 billion, South Korea could cross the historic US$ 700 billion annual export milestone for the first time. The surge was driven largely by a strong boom in semiconductors — November semiconductor exports alone jumped 38.6 % year-on-year to US$ 17.26 billion, a monthly record and accounting for 28.3% of total exports. Automobile exports also rose, with November shipments reaching US$ 6.41 billion, up 13.7% from a year earlier. Despite some declines in sectors such as steel, petrochemicals, petroleum products and auto parts, growth in other areas like electrical equipment, agrifood/seafood products and cosmetics suggests that South Korea’s export base is gradually becoming more diversified.
