Kazakhstan to ship up to 2 million tonnes of grain through Tallinn in 2026-2028Kazakhstan plans to export up to 2 million tonnes of grain and oilseeds through the Port of Tallinn over a three-year period from 2026, the state-owned Food Contract Corporation told Interfax-Kazakhstan.The move follows a memorandum signed in November between the state-owned Food Contract Corporation, or Prodcorporation, and the Port of Tallinn to develop a Northern Transport Corridor for exporting Kazakh grain and oilseeds. "The agreement provides for the supply of up to 2 million tonnes of crop products between 2026 and 2028," the company states.Shipment volumes will be formed based on importer demand.Prodcorporation is currently shipping wheat via Baltic Sea ports to buyers in Algeria, Morocco and Egypt, with 160,000 tonnes already dispatched. Approximately 100,000 tonnes of that total were routed through Estonia's Muuga Grain Terminal, marking the first phase of the new memorandum. The company emphasized that the Tallinn logistics route will help expand the presence of Kazakh agricultural products in high-margin European markets while maintaining stable supplies to North African countries.Kazakhstan plans to export 13 million tonnes of new-harvest grain in the current agricultural year, a figure consistent with the previous period. This follows a 2% increase in the national grain harvest this year to 27 million tonnes. (ICE ALMATY)
