INDONESIA CONFIRMS US$3.1 BILLION FROM JETP FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR PROJECT

Indonesia has mobilized US$3.1 billion from the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) pledge to accelerate clean energy projects, with another US$5.5 billion under negotiation. The JETP is a funding commitment to support Indonesia's energy transition, agreed upon at the G20 Summit in Bali in November 2022, a form of collaboration between Indonesia and developed countries in the International Partners Group (IPG). Indonesia's Coordinating Minister of Economy,  Airlangga Hartarto, highlighted several priority projects set to benefit, including the Saguling Floating Solar Plant, Muara Laboh Geothermal Plant, Legok Nangka Waste-to-Energy Plant, Sulawesi transmission corridor, South Sumatra Wind Plant, and a de-dieselization program. These initiatives aim to strengthen Indonesia’s energy transition amid falling reliance on fossil fuels. The JETP commitment has grown to US$21.4 billion, combining US$11 billion from the International Partners Group (IPG) and US$10 billion from Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ). To ensure effective implementation, the government formed the Energy Transition and Green Economy Task Force (Satgas TEH), including JETP 2.0, to align with national climate targets. Following the US withdrawal, the IPG leadership is now held by Germany and Japan, with members consisting of Denmark, the UK, Italy, Canada, Norway, France, and the European Union. Despite the United States’ withdrawal, the Minister stressed that the partnership remains resilient and not dependent on any single country.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/395254/minister-confirms-us31-billion-from-jetp-funds-available-for-project?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
