LCBO CHIEF EXECUTIVE RETIRING IN JANUARY

LCBO CEO George Soleas to Retire; Aaron Campbell Named Interim Leader The Liquor Control Board of Ontario announced that president and CEO George Soleas will retire at the end of January after leading the agency since 2016. Soleas guided the LCBO through major changes, including Ontario’s expanded alcohol retailing and the corporation’s first-ever strike. Veteran LCBO executive Aaron Campbell has been appointed interim president and CEO starting Feb. 1. A permanent successor has not yet been named. During his tenure, Soleas oversaw modernization efforts, navigated political pressures such as the reversal of the LCBO paper-bag ban, and managed labour unrest sparked by the province’s plan to broaden alcohol sales. LCBO chair Carmine Nigro and Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy praised Soleas’s leadership and long-term contributions to shaping one of the world’s largest beverage alcohol retailers.
