AREF: IRAN A TOP PRIORITY FOR AFGHAN INVESTORS
The First Vice President of Iran said that due to cultural and linguistic commonalities, Iran is one of the top priorities for Afghan investors. He emphasized that the comprehensive plan to strengthen Iran-Afghanistan ties should be finalized within a month.Mohammad Reza Aref added that the exchanged messages between both sides indicate that Afghanistan also has a serious intention to expand cooperation.The Iranian First Vice President also highlighted the importance of following up on the issue of water rights and expanding scientific, educational, and cultural cooperation with Afghanistan.Aref said: “Recent developments have moved in a direction where we can strengthen relations with this country in various fields. Today, there is readiness among Afghan officials in both governmental and non-governmental sectors, and some obstacles and challenges have been resolved.”The Ministry of Economy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan also considers the expansion of economic ties with Iran important.The spokesperson of the ministry added that expanding trade with Iran provides benefits such as access to commercial ports and alternative markets.Abdul Rahman Habib stated: “Developing relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran can pave the way for broader cooperation in trade, transit, and attracting investment. As a result, it can help reduce prices and improve access to commercial ports.”This comes as, with trade with Pakistan being halted, Afghanistan is striving to reduce its commercial dependence on Pakistan and find alternative trade routes.
