Kazakh president tasks central bank with curbing inflation, ensuring market stabilityKazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has directed the country's central bank to prioritize curbing inflation and ensuring the stable operation of the financial market, the presidential press service said Tuesday.Tokayev issued the instructions after hearing a report from National Bank Chairman Timur Suleimenov on the state of the economy, the financial system, and key areas of monetary policy."The president set tasks for the central bank, stressing the importance of lowering inflation, maintaining financial market stability and advancing the sector's digital transformation," the statement said.Suleimenov assured the president that the central bank is taking all necessary steps to stabilize prices and achieve its medium-term inflation target of 5%.Annual inflation in Kazakhstan was 12.4% in November, down from 12.6% in October.
