INDONESIA NEEDS OVER IDR10,300 T FOR INFRASTRUCTURE BY 2029 TO HIT 8% GROWTH
Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development has set an ambitious investment target of IDR10,303 trillion through 2029 to support its goal of achieving 8 percent economic growth. Deputy Muhammad Rachmat Kaimuddin explained that this figure is 66 percent higher than the IDR6,203 trillion spent from 2014–2024, requiring annual infrastructure investment to triple compared to the previous period. Of the total, IDR7,212 trillion is expected from the government, while IDR3,091 trillion must come from the private sector, meaning private inflows need to rise more than fourfold from past levels. Despite this, construction investment remains relatively low, with less than IDR105.2 trillion realized in the first nine months of 2025. To close the financing gap, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, emphasized the role of the National Investment Management Agency, BPI Danantara, which consolidates over 800 state-owned enterprises and can act as both shareholder and investor. He noted that Danantara is positioned to launch innovative financing mechanisms beyond state budgets, with the government committed to identifying viable projects for its involvement. Stronger private sector participation, alongside Danantara’s strategic role, is seen as crucial to keeping infrastructure expansion on track and ensuring Indonesia’s long-term growth ambitions are met.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/5774/business-and-investment/indonesia-needs-over-rp10-300-t-for-infrastructure-by-2029-to-hit-8-growth-target (ICE GIACARTA)
