INDONESIA'S ECONOMY SEEN STRENGTHENING TO 5–5.2 PERCENT IN 2026
Indonesia’s economy is projected to grow more strongly in 2026, with Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) economist, Aviliani, forecasting 5–5.2% year-on-year expansion. This outlook is driven by robust domestic consumption, fueled by the country’s large young population, and improved investment conditions as confidence returns after the first year of the new administration. She highlighted that Indonesia’s growth trajectory aligns with typical developing economies, which generally expand between 4–6%, contrasting with slower growth in developed nations facing aging populations. Aviliani emphasized the importance of safeguarding household purchasing power and encouraging both private and state-owned enterprises to accelerate investment to sustain momentum. Strong capital inflows reflect Indonesia’s attractiveness in the regional investment landscape, but she cautioned that inequality remains a pressing issue. While some groups continue to face purchasing power pressures, others are relatively insulated, making it crucial that growth of around 5% be accompanied by better quality and distribution to ensure more equitable benefits across society.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/395830/indonesias-economy-seen-strengthening-to-5-52-percent-in-2026?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
