A delegation from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) visited the Thriassio Freight Center (TFC) last November to review the progress of the project and discuss further cooperation opportunities within Greece’s strategic infrastructure landscape. TFC CEO Vassilis Maglaras briefed the delegation on the center’s operations and its potential role in creating a unified industrial and freight ecosystem in Western Attica. The visit highlighted collaboration between TFC and the Elefsina Shipyards, a DFC-funded project, aimed at developing a fully integrated logistics corridor combining maritime, overland, and rail transport. The geographic proximity and operational complementarity of the two facilities offer a unique opportunity to attract international operators and new industrial and trade activities. TFC is Greece’s first completed freight center and a €300 million investment by DFC and the Bank of Piraeus, covering 588,000 sqm, including 226,000 sqm of facilities. The project features a dedicated railroad connection, direct access to the Port of Piraeus, Athens International Airport, and the Attiki Odos highway, establishing it as a model of strategic and sustainable infrastructure development in Southeastern Europe (ICE ATENE)
