GREECE: PLANETEK HELLAS TO LAUNCH FIRST GREEK CUBESAT IN 2026, OPENS NEW SATELLITE CONTROL CENTER

Greek space tech company Planetek Hellas (part of the D-Orbit Group, that includes four companies based in Italy and Greece) will launch its first CubeSat, Optisat, in early 2026 aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9, providing secure connectivity for telecommunications and defense. The company also inaugurated its Satellite Control and Guidance Center (C2), enabling full satellite operations from Greece and supporting national and European missions. Planetek Hellas, a key player in Europe’s space sector, collaborates with ESA, the European Defence Fund, and partners including Airbus and Leonardo. The new center will lay the foundation for future Greek and European space projects, boosting national autonomy, security, and technological growth. By the end of 2025, the first two operational CubeSats and three research nanosatellites are set for launch, marking a historic step for Greece’s presence in space. (ICE ATENE)
