GREECE EMBARKS ON LARGEST-EVER STATE ARCHIVE DIGITISATION PROJECT
Greece is currently undertaking the largest digitization project in the country’s history, aiming to modernize and centralize state archives across multiple sectors. The initiative is being led by the Ministry of Digital Governance and is funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Greece 2.0. The ambitious project will digitize over 1.2 billion pages, integrating them into new, comprehensive information systems. Once completed, citizens and officials will be able to access organized archives across sectors such as Justice, Health, Infrastructure, Land Registry, Migration, and Shipping through centralized platforms. This represents a historic step toward standardizing public records and improving accessibility. The project is expected to significantly enhance public administration efficiency, enabling faster, more transparent access to crucial information for both government agencies and citizens.
