KAZAKHSTAN-FISH-FEED-PLANT
Fish feed plant planned in Almaty regionA fish feed plant is planned for construction in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region in partnership with Danish producer Aller Aqua, Serik Sermagambetov, chairman of the Agriculture Ministry’s Fisheries Committee, said on Wednesday.“We intend to implement a joint project in the Almaty region. The regional administration is selecting a site, which could be in an industrial zone or a special economic zone. With the help of this manufacturer, we plan to satisfy the domestic demand for fish feed,” Sermagambetov told a press conference. He said Kazakhstan signed a memorandum last month with Aller Aqua, from which it purchases about 4,000 tonnes of feed annually.Sermagambetov noted that Kazakhstan meets its demand for pelleted carp feed through local producers but imports extruded feed for sturgeon and salmon, totaling roughly 7,000 tonnes.“The current feed requirement is 63,000 tonnes, and this will increase in the future. We want to cover the demand for extruded feed,” he said. (ICE ALMATY)
