GREEK SUPERMARKET SALES EXCEED €13 BILLION IN 2024
Greek supermarket sales surpassed €13 billion in 2024, rising 4.38% compared to the previous year, according to the 29th edition of the Panorama of Greek Supermarkets published by Boussias Media. The data covers the 43 largest companies in the sector, excluding Lidl Hellas, which does not publish a balance sheet. Despite challenges such as rising operating and wage costs and inflationary pressures, the sector achieved growth and maintained sufficient profitability. Companies are expected to focus on cost efficiency, borrowing, and inventory management in the coming years. Sklavenitis led the sector with €4.65 billion in turnover, up 7.79% from 2023In second place was AB Vassilopoulos, with annual sales of 1.94 billion euros, decreased by 1.75% compared to 2023, while Metro saw a 2% and an annual turnover of 1.62 billion euros.
