GREECE: €4 BILLION INVESTMENT IN CARBON DIOXIDE CAPTURE AND STORAGE

Greece is set to launch carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects worth €4 billion in the coming period, following the completion of the regulatory framework and the approval of funding from European and national sources. These investments aim to support large industrial emitters in reducing CO₂ emissions and to position Greece as a key player in CCS infrastructure in Southeast Europe. The package includes a flagship project to convert the depleted offshore field at Prinos oil field into an underground CO₂ storage site — developed by EnEarth, a subsidiary of Energean — with €120 million already secured from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
