INDONESIA EYES IEU-CEPA TO BOOST MARINE PRODUCT EXPORTS
The Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries emphasized that the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) should be leveraged to boost exports of Indonesian fishery and marine products to Europe, particularly through its zero-tariff provisions. Acting Director General Machmud highlighted that Indonesia has already secured USD 13.65 million in seaweed derivative contracts, surpassing the USD 8 million target, while exports of shrimp and tuna have also grown, reflecting strong European demand. He expressed optimism that the agreement will further expand opportunities once implemented. To strengthen promotion, the ministry plans to invite European buyers to visit Indonesian fish processing units in mid-2026, following the Barcelona expo. Meanwhile, Trade Minister Budi Santoso confirmed that the IEU-CEPA is in the final stages of legal drafting and translation, with the signing targeted for January 2026.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/396220/indonesia-eyes-ieu-cepa-to-boost-marine-product-exports (ICE GIACARTA)
