MALAYSIA: A SOARING SEMICONDUCTOR OPPORTUNITY

Kuala Lumpur, 21 October 2025 – Malaysia is rapidly advancing its semiconductor sector, building on decades of strength in assembly, testing, packaging and wafer fabrication to move into higher-value activities such as chip design, advanced packaging and innovation. Guided by the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS) and the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (13MP), the industry is backed by strong policies, coordinated facilitation by Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), and Malaysia’s strategic position at the heart of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Since the NSS was launched, the country has attracted over RM70.7 billion (approximately €14.57 billion) in approved investments and trained thousands of engineers, while nurturing at least 13 promising homegrown firms across the value chain. Major global players like Texas Instruments and Inari Amertron continue to expand, citing Malaysia’s resilient supply chains, skilled workforce, supportive government, mature ecosystem and strong Research and Development (R&D) partnerships as key enablers. Together, these developments reinforce Malaysia’s emergence as a stable, innovation-driven and trusted hub in the global semiconductor supply chain.Source - https://www.reuters.com/plus/malaysia-a-soaring-semiconductor-opportunity (ICE KUALA LUMPUR)
