INDONESIA READY TO SEAL FREE TRADE PACT WITH EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION
Indonesia is preparing to sign the Indonesia–Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (I–EAEU FTA) during the EAEU Summit in St. Petersburg on December 20–21, 2025. Trade Minister Budi Santoso emphasized that the key challenge is not only concluding the agreement but ensuring its effective implementation through business readiness and strong cross‑border partnerships. He stressed that without active engagement between Indonesian and EAEU companies, the FTA risks becoming symbolic rather than a catalyst for trade. Indonesia’s trade with the EAEU has shown strong momentum, with 2024 exports reaching USD 1.9 billion and total trade amounting to USD 4.5 billion, growing at an average of 21.45 percent annually over the past five years. The FTA is expected to potentially double trade volumes and expand access to a market of nearly 200 million people. Initially focused on goods, the agreement may later include services and investment, with implementation targeted for late 2026 or early 2027 following ratification by member states.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2043708/indonesia-ready-to-seal-free-trade-pact-with-eurasian-economic-union (ICE GIACARTA)
