VINCEN RECEIVES TYPE APPROVAL FOR 150KW MARINE FUEL CELL MODULE FROM RINA
South Korean marine clean-energy company Vincen Co., Ltd. has obtained type approval from Italy’s classification society RINA for its 150 kW marine fuel cell module, marking a key milestone in its global commercialization efforts. The approval confirms that the system meets international safety and performance standards for maritime use. Vincen has already secured certifications for its smaller fuel cell systems from the Korean Register and the Korea Maritime Safety Corporation, and now plans to pursue approval for a 250 kW system—which combines two 150 kW modules—by the first half of 2026. The modular approach is designed to support larger vessels, including passenger ships and coastal cargo ships. The company is also developing megawatt-class fuel cell systems for medium- and large-scale vessels, targeting the growing demand for zero-emission propulsion solutions as environmental regulations tighten. CEO Lee Chil-hwan said the latest certification highlights Vincen’s technological maturity and strengthens its competitiveness in the global marine fuel cell market. (ICE SEOUL)
