ARNOLD MAGNETIC TECHNOLOGIES SECURES RARE EARTH SUPPLY AGREEMENT

Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corporation has announced a supply agreement with Less Common Metals and Solvay to source rare earth materials for permanent magnet production. The Rochester, N.Y.-based company said the agreement provides access to Western-origin rare earth materials used in manufacturing magnets for aerospace, defense, automotive and energy applications. Arnold Magnetic Technologies is a subsidiary of Compass Diversified.Aaron Williams, chief commercial officer at Arnold Magnetic Technologies, said the partnership addresses increasing demand for Western-sourced magnet materials and provides supply security for customers. An Nuyttens, president of GBU Special Chem at Solvay, said the collaboration supports high-performance applications, particularly in European aerospace. Nuyttens said the agreement is part of Solvay’s approach to rare earth supply chains in Europe and internationally. The company said the supply agreement complements ongoing capital investments in Switzerland and manufacturing operations in Thailand.Rare earth elements are a group of metals used in manufacturing permanent magnets, which are essential components in electric motors, generators and other industrial applications. Supply chain concerns have increased focus on sources outside China, which dominates global rare earth production. (ICE TORONTO)
