GAS PIPELINE DUMAI–SEI MANGKEI SIGNED FOR 2027 OPERATION

The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, has officially signed the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the Dumai–Sei Mangkei (Dusem) section of Indonesia’s national strategic natural gas transmission pipeline. Stretching 541 km, the pipeline is intended to become a major gas distribution backbone linking Java and Sumatra with key industrial regions in Aceh, North Sumatra, and Riau. Director General Laode Sulaeman emphasized that the project is central to expanding natural gas access for industry, commercial users, and the public, supporting economic growth and equitable energy distribution. The work is funded by the State Budget and divided into two major segments handled by different contractor joint ventures. The project contractors were chosen through a strict selection process to ensure quality, timeliness, and cost efficiency, with all parties committed to readiness in personnel, equipment, materials, and domestic content requirements (TKDN). Authorities stressed the importance of strong coordination among contractors, government officials, and local communities to maintain smooth project execution. Designed with a 20-inch diameter and a capacity of 109.2 MMSCFD, the pipeline is expected to enhance inter-regional gas connectivity and stimulate industrial development along the Belawan–Duri corridor. The government aims to complete the Dumai–Sei Mangkei pipeline by the end of 2027.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/proyek-pipa-gas-dumaisei-mangkei-resmi-dikontrak-target-beroperasi-2027  (ICE GIACARTA)
