Indonesia’s Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry will auction eight new oil and gas blocks next week as part of its strategy to boost upstream exploration and counter declining output from mature fields. This third auction round is part of a larger plan to offer 75 blocks to attract more investment and secure future energy supply. The eight blocks are located mainly in central and eastern Indonesia, including Southeast Sulawesi. Officials say bidders who previously conducted joint studies usually dominate the auctions due to their stronger data readiness.
