The Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is expanding the Red and White Fishermen Hamlets (KNMP) program in 2025 by adding 35 new locations, bringing the total to 100 hamlets funded under the 2025 State Budget. The second phase, financed with IDR 859 billion through a multi‑year scheme, is targeted for completion in May 2026. Officials emphasize construction quality, aesthetics, timeliness, and active involvement of coastal communities to ensure residents directly benefit economically and develop a sense of ownership. Looking ahead to 2026, the ministry is preparing a cluster‑based KNMP model designed to integrate hamlet development into a unified fisheries business ecosystem, supported by extensive site surveys for accurate planning. Meanwhile, the 65 hamlets from the first phase are already 60–80% complete, with full completion expected in January.
