PROJECTED 20% GROWTH IN INDONESIA’S ELECTRIC VEHICLE SECTOR BY 2025

CEO of VinFast Indonesia (a Vietnamese multinational automotive company founded by Vingroup), Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, predicts that electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Indonesia will grow by up to 20% in 2025, rising from the current estimated 12–13% share by the end of 2025. He attributes this expected growth to shifting consumer lifestyles, stronger government‑backed infrastructure, and momentum created by VinFast’s newly inaugurated Subang factory, which is expected to support wider EV availability and ecosystem development. Indonesia’s EV market has already shown strong traction, with EV sales rising 43.4% year-on-year in Q1 2025, driven heavily by surging BEV and PHEV uptake. PwC data cited in the article shows 27,616 EV units sold in Q1 2025, up from 19,260 a year earlier, highlighting a robust growth runway. VinFast plans to deepen its focus on building a complete EV ecosystem — including charging via sister company Vigrin — to accelerate adoption across Indonesia.Source: https://katadata.co.id/berita/industri/6947b3e671fdf/bos-vinfast-prediksi-kendaraan-listrik-di-indonesia-tumbuh-20-pada-2025 (ICE GIACARTA)
