Kazakhstan, Japan ink agreements worth $3.7 bln during Tokayev’s visit to TokyoMore than 60 bilateral documents worth over $3.7 billion were signed during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to Japan.“During my visit to Japan, we have signed more than 60 bilateral documents, including commercial agreements worth over $3.7 billion,” Tokayev said while speaking at the first Central Asia–Japan Dialogue summit in Tokyo on Saturday, according to a statement from the presidential press service.Addressing the summit, Tokayev said that strengthening trade, economic and investment cooperation requires special attention.“Last year, bilateral trade reached around $2 billion. Kazakhstan supplies uranium, rare earth metals and oil to the Japanese market. Japan has become a major investor in Kazakhstan’s economy, with cumulative investment exceeding $8.5 billion,” he said.Tokayev added that Kazakhstan has long-standing cooperation with major Japanese corporations and actively supports the operations of Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises in the country.
