HK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT DELIVERS ROBUST GROWTH IN NOVEMBER
HK International Airport delivers robust growth in November Hong Kong International Airport recorded strong growth in November, with passenger traffic rising 17.1 percent year-on-year to 5.19 million and cargo throughput climbing 5.9 percent to 486,000 tonnes, according to the Airport Authority Hong Kong. Aircraft movements increased 7.7 percent to 33,495, while transfer and transit passengers surged 50.9 percent, driven mainly by demand from Southeast Asia and mainland China. Traffic between the mainland and North America also posted notable gains. In the first 11 months of 2025, the airport handled over 55 million passengers, representing a 15.3 percent increase from the same period a year earlier. Aircraft movements reached 358,825, an 8.8 percent increase, and cargo throughput rose 2.7 percent to about 4.61 million tonnes. Export cargo remained the key growth driver, with shipments to Europe, the mainland and India showing significant increases. However, cargo to North America continued to decline due to US tariff measures. Meanwhile, the Airport Authority won the Smart Mobility (Smart Logistics) Gold and Silver Awards at the 2025 Hong Kong ICT Awards and was further honored with the Smart Mobility Grand Award. Established in 2006, the awards recognize outstanding achievements in information and communications technology across industries. AA Executive Director (Commercial) Cissy Chan Ching-sze said the recognition reflected the authority’s efforts in applying advanced smart technology to enhance cargo handling efficiency. She added that as digitalization accelerates the development of air cargo, the authority will continue to work closely with partners to boost competitiveness and reinforce Hong Kong International Airport’s position as a leading global cargo hub. https://www.thestandard.com.hk/hong-kong-news/article/319851/ (ICE HONG KONG)
