INDONESIA LOWERS COCOA REFERENCE PRICE AMID RISING GLOBAL SUPPLY
The Indonesian Ministry of Trade has adjusted reference prices (HR) and export benchmark prices (HPE) for several commodities for January 2026. Cocoa beans recorded the sharpest decline as global supply increased, with the HR set at USD 5,662.38 per ton (down 5.27%) and the HPE set at USD 5,296 per ton (down 5.49%). Converted to rupiah at an approximate exchange rate of IDR 16,000 per USD, the HR is around IDR 90.6 million per ton, while the HPE is about IDR 84.7 million per ton. The ministry attributed the decline to higher production from West African suppliers following improved weather conditions. Meanwhile, pine resin prices increased, leather product prices stayed flat, and various wood product categories saw mixed adjustments—some rising, some falling, and others remaining unchanged. The ministry confirmed that all price settings for January 1–31, 2026, including those for CPO, cocoa, leather, wood products, and pine resin, follow Trade Ministerial Decree No. 2392/2025. Additionally, export duties for branded packaged cooking oil (RBD palm olein ≤25 kg) remain at USD 0 per ton, meaning no export tax applies—equivalent to IDR 0 in duties. Overall, the adjustments reflect global supply dynamics, especially in cocoa, while domestic regulatory stability is maintained for key processed products.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2082041/indonesia-lowers-cocoa-reference-price-amid-rising-global-supply (ICE GIACARTA)
