INDONESIA'S CERAMICS INDUSTRY AIMS TO INCREASE PRODUCTION CAPACITY TO 80% BY2026

The Indonesian Ceramic Industries Association (Asaki) projects production utilization to rise to 80% in 2026, recovering from a drop to 66% in 2024. Chairman Edy Suyanto noted the industry reached 73% utilization in 2025, supported by government policies such as anti‑dumping measures, safeguards, and mandatory SNI standards. Production in 2025 grew by 15%, reaching 474.5 million m², and Asaki targets 537 million m² in 2026. The sector’s optimism is also tied to the anticipated 3 Million Housing Units Program, which could boost utilization to as high as 96% if fully implemented. However, growth remains challenged by gas supply shortages, forcing producers to buy costly surcharge gas at US$15.4 per MMBTU, and by rising ceramic imports from India, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Asaki plans to coordinate with KADI to launch a dumping investigation into Indian products and track possible transshipment from China. The industry also faces raw material scarcity in West Java due to revoked mining permits. Overall, 2026 is considered a pivotal year, balancing strong opportunities with significant structural challenges.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20260103/257/1941255/industri-keramik-ri-bidik-kapasitas-produksi-naik-ke-80-pada-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
