UKRAINE OFFICIALLY JOINS THE EU’S “ROAM LIKE AT HOME” ZONE
Ukraine has officially joined the EU’s “Roam Like at Home” (RLAH) zone as of January 1, 2026, becoming the first country outside the European Union and the European Economic Area to do so.Under the new regime, Ukrainian mobile subscribers can use calls, SMS, and mobile internet across all 27 EU member states at domestic tariffs, without additional roaming charges. The same conditions will apply to EU subscribers traveling in Ukraine, ensuring seamless connectivity for citizens, students, workers, businesses, and families on both sides.Ukraine’s accession to the RLAH zone marks a major step in sectoral integration into the EU’s Digital Single Market and represents an unprecedented application of EU internal market rules in the field of roaming with a non-EU country. The decision follows extensive alignment of Ukrainian legislation with EU roaming regulations, achieved through long-term cooperation between the National Commission for the State Regulation of Electronic Communications (NCEC), EU institutions, and public and private stakeholders. The move grants Ukraine full access to the benefits of unified roaming rules, including greater transparency, stability, enhanced consumer protection, and free access to emergency services throughout the Ukraine–EU roaming zone. Officials described the decision as a strong symbol of European solidarity and Ukraine’s practical integration into Europe’s digital space.https://nkek.gov.ua/news/ofitsiino-ukraina-pryiednalasia-do-zony-ies-rouminh-iak-vdoma (ICE KIEV)
