JORDAN PLANS TO RENEW OIL SUPPLY DEAL WITH IRAQ

The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced on Wednesday that it intends to extend an oil supply agreement with Iraq on the same conditions as the previous one.The ministry said in a statement that discussions are underway with the Iraqi side to renew the oil supply agreement for another year, after the previous agreement expired on June 26, 2025, which was extended until the end of 2025.The Jordan Petroleum Refinery in Zarqa received 891,388 barrels of Iraqi crude oil between October 5 and December 31, 2025, under the previous agreement signed between the Iraqi and Jordanian governments, which was extended on September 17, 2025.According to the agreement, this action was taken to deliver shipments that had been delayed due to logistical issues. The delivery of oil shipments restarted on October 5 and ended on December 31, 2025.The step is part of a wider initiative aiming to deepen ongoing energy cooperation between Jordan and Iraq, as well as to consolidate economic links between the two countries, to serve their joint interests and contribute to Jordan’s energy security.
