Singapore’s Xinfa Group plans $15 bln industrial park in KazakhstanSingapore’s Xinfa Group plans to invest about $15 billion to develop a large industrial park in northeastern Kazakhstan, the Kazakh government announced Thursday.The proposed complex, spanning over 7,400 acres in the Pavlodar region, would process raw materials including coal, bauxite, copper, fluorite and limestone. Plans call for building metallurgical plants to produce alumina, aluminum and copper, as well as energy infrastructure with renewable sources and factories for soda ash, carbon materials and eco-friendly building products.In talks with Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, Xinfa Group representative said the company has already conducted a preliminary analysis of Kazakhstan’s resource base and sees strong potential for establishing high-value-added processing chains using local bauxite, coal and copper deposits.
