MALAYSIA'S WHOLESALE, RETAIL TRADE SALES UP 6.4PCT YEAR-ON-YEAR TO RM158.9BIL IN NOVEMBER

Kuala Lumpur, 9 January 2026 – In November 2025, Malaysia's wholesale and retail trade recorded total sales of RM158.9 billion (approximately EUR33,392,868.18 million), marking a 6.4% year-on-year (y-o-y) growth, driven by strong performances across all sub-sectors, particularly motor vehicles (+8.0% y-o-y), wholesale trade (+6.0%), and retail trade (+6.4%). While the volume index rose 5.2% y-o-y, it declined 2.0% month-on-month on a seasonally adjusted basis. Online retail sales continued to grow (+7.3% y-o-y), supported by digital payments, which saw e-money transactions surge 66.9% to RM27.0 billion (approximately EUR5,673,512,230.22 billion), real-time retail payments reach RM322.6 billion (approximately EUR67,736,581,409.44 billion), financial process exchange (FPX) transactions rise 20.4% to RM41.5 billion (EUR8,717,497,957.14 billion), and credit/debit card usage grow around 6.8–6.9%, reflecting sustained consumer demand and a shift toward cashless transactions, partly aided by the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) RM100 (approximately EUR21.0) one-off assistance.Source - https://www.nst.com.my/business/economy/2026/01/1353390/malaysias-wholesale-retail-trade-sales-64pct-year-year-rm1589bil  (ICE KUALA LUMPUR)
