OVER $100BN IN INVESTMENTS IN IRAQ OVER THREE YEARS

Iraq has achieved more than US$102 billion in investments over the past three years, reflecting rising confidence among domestic and foreign investors, according to a 2025 review issued by the National Investment Commission (NIC).The NIC said that during 2025 it processed more than 850 investment applications across key sectors including energy, housing, health, education, transport and services. Around 40 investment licences were issued or amended during the year.Strategic projects covered electricity generation plants, smart electricity collection schemes in Baghdad and other governorates, residential complexes, commercial centres, airports and a range of service-sector developments.On the contractual side, the commission highlighted the signing of the Basra (2) project with DECO Global Holding Company, as well as an integrated vertical residential and hotel project with Al-Ramla Real Estate Investment and Development Company. In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed with 'Mapitex-Veritas' (sic) (United States) and Al-Aber for Infrastructure Services and Investments.The NIC also confirmed completion of the 2025 National Investment Map, which has been circulated to ministries, sectoral authorities and provincial investment commissions, though it has not been published on the commission's website.During the year, the commission evaluated and studied 77 investment projects as part of its project appraisal and financing work.
