Kazakhstan's retail trade grew by 7.5% in 2025Kazakhstan's retail trade volume grew by 7.5% YoY in January-December 2025 reaching 26.392 trillion tenge, the Bureau of National Statistics reported.Retail sales of goods by commercial enterprises increased by 5.9%.The sales growth was led by a 7.3% increase in non-food products, which accounted for 66.9% of total retail turnover. Food sales rose 7.8% representing 33.1% of the market.Retail inventories stood at 1.617 trillion tenge as of January 1, 2026, covering 52 days of trade.Since the beginning of the year, the turnover from retail sales of goods by privately-owned enterprises amounted to 23.855 trillion tenge (90.4% of the total retail trade volume), while foreign-owned enterprises accounted for 2.537 trillion tenge (9.6%).Almaty accounted for nearly one-third of national retail sales (33.7%) followed by Astana (14.3%), Karaganda Region (7.1%) and East Kazakhstan Region (5.3%).
