INDONESIA SETS 2026 NICKEL QUOTA AT 250–260 MILLION TONS
Indonesia’s Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry set 2026 nickel production quota at 250–260 million tons, aligned with smelter capacity to balance supply and demand. Current nickel prices rose to US$17,000–18,000 per ton from 2025’s average of US$14,000–14,800. Approval of mining work plans (RKAB) is under evaluation, with temporary limits allowing only 25% of approved volumes until March 2026. Industry groups warn stricter rules may pressure miners’ margins despite supporting sustainable nickel development.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/kuota-produksi-nikel-nasional-2026-dibatasi-260-juta-ton-jadi-batas-atas (ICE GIACARTA)
