EAEU-FERTILIZER-PHOSPHATES-DUTY

EEC extends zero duty on phosphate imports for fertilizer productionThe Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has reduced the import duty on phosphates for fertilizer production to zero until February 29, 2028.The measure applies to natural calcium phosphates, aluminum-calcium phosphates and phosphatic chalk (customs code 2510 20 000 0 TN VED EAEU) and will go into effect 30 calendar days after the official publication of the EEC's decision, the commission's trade department said. The import duty on phosphates is normally 5%. The zero duty rate for phosphate imports into Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries was already in effect from January 5, 2024 to January 4, 2026, so the latest EEC decision essentially extends this measure."The application of a zero import customs duty rate will make it possible to ensure the utilization of mineral fertilizer producers' capacity amid limited amounts of phosphate production within the Eurasian Economic Union," the EEC's director of customs tariff and non-tariff regulation, Vaagn Kazaryan said in the press release.
