CROATIA:EXPORTS REACH EUR 23.1 BILLION IN FIRST 11 MONTHS OF 2025, TRADE DEFICIT at EUR 17.7 Billion
According to the first data published on Friday, 9 January by the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS), the value of Croatian merchandise exports reached EUR 23.1 billion in the first 11 months of 2025, representing an increase of 5% when compared with the same period a year earlier, Croatian media report. Imports rose over the same period, by 3.2% to EUR 40.8 billion, and as a result, the foreign trade deficit amounted to EUR 17.7 billion, while import coverage by exports stood at 56.5%.Croatia exported goods worth EUR 15.3 billion to member states of the European Union (EU) in the first 11 months of 2025, which is 5.8% more than in the corresponding period of 2024.Exports to non-EU countries increased by 3.2%, reaching EUR 7.7 billion. Imports from EU member states rose by 1.1% year on year in the first 11 months of last year, amounting to EUR 31.4 billion. At the same time, imports from non-EU countries totaled EUR 9.3 billion, reflecting a much stronger increase of 11.3%.The DZS also released provisional data on merchandise trade for the first ten months of 2025. During that period, total exports amounted to EUR 21 billion, up 6% compared with the same period of 2024, while imports increased by 4.2% to EUR 37.4 billion.According to the latest data available, the foreign trade deficit from January to October 2025 totaled EUR 16.4 billion, while import coverage by exports stood at 56.1%.Regarding Croatia’s main foreign trade partners, exports to Germany rose sharply in the first ten months of last year, increasing by 12.8% to EUR 2.7 billion, while imports from Germany, Europe’s largest economy, grew by 5.9% to EUR 5.5 billion. Exports to Slovenia also recorded strong growth, rising by 12.3% in the first ten months of 2025 compared with the same period of 2024 to EUR 2.5 billion, while imports from Slovenia increased by 5.5% to EUR 4.5 billion.In addition, Croatian exports to Italy grew by 6.6% to EUR 2.4 billion, while imports from Italy declined by 9.6% to EUR 4.4 billion.
