CROATIA: WB FORECASTS CROATIAN GDP GROWTH OF 2.9% IN 2026, SLIGHTLY BELOW 2025 Levels
According to the World Bank (WB)’s Global Economic Prospects report published on January 13, the Croatian economy is expected to grow by 2.9% in 2026, placing it on the same growth level as Bulgaria, and representing a slight slowdown compared with 2025, when Croatia recorded economic growth of 3.1%. Over the medium term, Croatia is expected to maintain solid momentum, with growth projected at 2.7% in 2027, slightly below earlier, more optimistic forecasts. The WB forecasts that the Croatian economy will grow by 2.9% this year, matching the growth rate of Bulgaria, representing a slight slowdown compared with 2025, when economic activity increased by 3.1%, while growth is expected to ease further to 2.7% in 2027.Previous forecasts had predicted growth in activity in the Croatian economy this year of 3.0% and of 2.8% in 2027.The WB report notes that Croatia is expected to record solid economic growth this year, in line with Bulgaria, and above the average growth of 2.7% projected for the broader group of Central European countries.Croatia, now classified together with Bulgaria among developed countries, faces risks from global trade tensions and regulatory uncertainty, which could negatively affect trade and investment due to its open economy, the WB warns. The WB report also notes that close to Croatia in terms of forecast growth in 2026 within the group of emerging and developing European and Central Asian countries are also Serbia, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH), where activity should grow by 3%.
