Jordan continues to face persistent challenges in food affordability and nutrition, despite avoiding the severe hunger levels seen in some parts of the region, according to The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2025, published by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). FAO data for Jordan show that food insecurity in the Kingdom is driven less by widespread undernourishment and more by economic access to food, rising costs and pressures on dietary quality.

The report’s annex tables indicate that the prevalence of undernourishment remains relatively low, reflecting the country’s long-standing food subsidy mechanisms and reliance on food imports to maintain availability. (ICE AMMAN)
