LEBANON ADVANCES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AGENDA THROUGH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY FIRMS
Lebanon has taken a significant step toward strengthening its digital economy through new partnerships with leading global technology companies, aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, expanding digital skills, and supporting startup growth across both the public and private sectors. The initiatives form part of broader efforts to position technology and innovation as key drivers of economic transformation and productivity enhancement. Under a newly signed agreement, Lebanon is partnering with Microsoft to support startup development and scale AI training nationwide. The collaboration focuses on expanding access to advanced digital skills while reinforcing the country’s innovation ecosystem. As part of the initiative, 100,000 Lebanese are set to benefit from AI-focused training programs targeting a wide range of groups, including AI developers, university students from public and private institutions, business leaders, startups, companies, and public-sector employees. Training programs are to be delivered by Microsoft in cooperation with national authorities and certified training organizations, with an emphasis on practical and market-relevant capabilities. In parallel, Lebanon has entered into a major technology partnership with Oracle to advance digital and AI capacity building. The agreement aims to provide hands-on training to 50,000 Lebanese in key areas such as programming, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. Priority is being given to university students and qualified talent from both the public and private sectors, selected in coordination with national authorities and Lebanese universities. Training delivery will be conducted in collaboration with academic institutions and specialized local organizations to ensure alignment with labor-market needs. Together, these initiatives represent the largest wave of international technology partnerships in Lebanon in more than two decades. They underscore growing engagement by global technology firms in developing Lebanon’s human capital, enhancing workforce readiness, and supporting the country’s transition toward a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.
